Privacy Policy
Summary. The Windows version of Russian Checkers AI & Analysis works entirely on your own device. It has no user accounts, makes no network connections, contains no advertising, and contains no analytics or crash reporting. Nothing you do in the app is transmitted to the developer or to any third party. The AI engine runs locally on your own computer.
This policy explains what information Russian Checkers AI & Analysis ("the App") stores, how it is used, and your choices. The App has no account, login, or sign-in system, and it does not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other real-world identity.
Scope
This policy covers the App on all platforms it is distributed on. The behavior differs by platform, so the sections are labelled:
- Windows (Microsoft Store) — the sections immediately below. This version is fully offline: no ads, no network requests, no in-app purchases.
- Android and iOS — see Additional disclosures for the Android and iOS versions at the end. Those versions may show advertising and offer an in-app purchase.
Information Stored on Your Device
The App stores the following on your own device only. None of it is transmitted anywhere by the App.
- Guest ID. The first time you open the App it generates a
random identifier on your device (for example
g_4f2a…) using your system's secure random number generator. It is not derived from any hardware or account identifier, is not linked to any real-world identity, and is never sent anywhere. It exists only so the App's own local data can be tied together and encrypted. - Username. During first launch you choose a display name. It is stored only on your device and shown only to you. Because the Windows version has no online play, it is never shown to anyone else.
- Local game history. When a game finishes (against the AI or on the Analysis Board), a record of it — the moves, the result, the difficulty, and the date — is saved automatically on your device so you can review or replay it later from the History screen. This history is stored in encrypted form in the App's own local storage. The developer never receives or stores a copy of it. You can delete it at any time; see Your Choices.
- Preferences. Your settings — language, board and piece style, light/dark theme, AI search depth, AI memory and CPU-thread budget, and whether the evaluation bar is shown — are stored locally so they persist between sessions.
- Exported game files. "Export Game" writes a
.jsongame file to a location you choose yourself through Windows' own file dialog, and "Load Saved Game" reads one back. These files contain only the moves and game settings — no identifiers, no username, and no device information. They stay on your device and are never transmitted anywhere unless you choose to share them yourself.
No Network Connections
The Windows version of the App does not connect to the internet. There is no developer-operated server, no online multiplayer, no cloud save, no leaderboard, and no remote configuration. The AI opponent and all position analysis are computed by an engine that runs locally inside the App on your own processor, so your moves and board positions never leave your device.
Information We Do Not Collect
The App does not collect, request, or access any of the following:
- Your name, email address, phone number, or any account credentials
- Precise or approximate location data
- Contacts, calendar, photos, camera, or microphone
- Advertising identifiers (the Windows version shows no ads)
- Browsing history or data from other apps
- Analytics, usage telemetry, diagnostics, or crash reports
- Payment or credit card details
Advertising
The Windows version contains no advertising. No advertising software development kit is included in the Windows build, no ads are displayed, and no advertising identifier is read or transmitted.
Purchases
The Windows version is distributed as a paid app through the Microsoft Store and contains no in-app purchases. Any payment is handled entirely by Microsoft under Microsoft's own terms and privacy policy; the developer never sees or stores your payment details. The App itself does not process, transmit, or store payment information of any kind.
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the Windows version collects no personal information from anyone and transmits nothing off the device, it poses no data-collection risk to children.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your information. In the Windows version there is no information to share: nothing leaves your device.
Data Retention
The developer retains nothing, because nothing is ever transmitted. There is no server-side storage of any kind.
On your device, your guest ID, username, local game history, and preferences remain in the App's local storage so they are still there the next time you open the App, until you clear them or uninstall the App. Exported game files remain wherever you saved them until you delete them yourself.
Your Choices
- Delete your game history at any time using "Clear all history" on the History screen. This does not affect your guest ID, username, or preferences.
- Uninstall the App to remove everything it stored locally — guest ID, username, game history, and preferences. Game files you exported to a folder of your own choosing are not removed by uninstalling; delete those yourself if you wish.
Security
Sensitive local values — your game history and the App's internal counters — are stored encrypted rather than in plain text, using a key derived on your device. This is a safeguard against casual tampering with local files; it is not a claim of protection against an attacker with full control of your device.
Additional Disclosures for the Android and iOS Versions
The sections below apply only to the Android and iOS releases of the App. They do not apply to the Windows version available on the Microsoft Store.
Advertising (Android and iOS only)
The mobile versions may display ads served by Google AdMob to support free play. When ads are shown, Google may collect and process data — such as advertising identifiers and ad-interaction data — under its own privacy policy, in order to serve relevant ads and measure their performance. You can review Google's practices at policies.google.com/privacy and manage ad personalization in your device settings. In regions where it applies, the App presents a consent prompt before personalized ads are shown.
In-App Purchases (Android and iOS only)
The mobile versions offer an optional one-time Premium upgrade that removes ads and unlocks unlimited use of ad-gated features. Purchases are processed by Google Play Billing or the Apple App Store; the developer never sees or stores your payment details. Your entitlement is held by your store account, so it restores on a new device or after reinstalling. The store's purchase receipt is cached in encrypted form on your device so the App can recognise your purchase offline; it is not sent to the developer, who operates no server.
Device Identifier (Android and iOS only)
On Android and iOS the App reads a device identifier (the Android ID, or a value stored in the iOS keychain) and uses it strictly on your device, as one ingredient in the key that encrypts your local data. This lets the App detect a data folder copied from a different device. The identifier is never transmitted and is never used for advertising or tracking. The Windows version does not read any device identifier.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time — for example if a future version of the App adds a feature that changes how data is handled. Changes will be reflected with a new effective date at the top of this page. Material changes will also be reflected in the Privacy Policy screen inside the App.
