Chess Ta! · MMC Solo Dev · Last updated 28 August 2026
The short version: Chess Ta! has no account system and no server of its own. Your games, settings, rating and history stay on your device and are never uploaded. The only third parties involved are Google AdMob, which shows ads in the mobile version, and the app store you bought from, which handles payment.
This policy applies to the Chess Ta! app published by MMC Solo Dev:
We do not run a server, and the app contains no analytics or crash-reporting SDK. That means we, the developer, never receive:
The app requests exactly one Android permission, INTERNET,
and it is used only by the advertising and payment services described below.
Chess itself — including every AI opponent, the analysis board and the 3D
board — runs entirely offline on your device.
This data is saved locally so the app can work between sessions. It stays on your device, is removed when you uninstall the app or clear its data, and is never transmitted to us.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| A display name you choose, and a random local ID | To label your side of the board. Both are made up on your device; neither is verified or sent anywhere. |
| Games, saved positions, PGN library, rating | So you can review past games and keep your rating between sessions. |
| Settings — board and piece style, theme, difficulty | To restore your preferences next launch. |
| Feature credits and ad counters | To track how many free uses of a feature remain before an optional ad. Stored encrypted. |
| Whether you purchased the ad-free upgrade | To keep ads off. The purchase itself is verified by your app store, not by us. |
On Android the app reads the system ANDROID_ID value, and uses
it only as part of the
encryption key for the local data described above. This ties that data to the
device it was created on, so copying it elsewhere simply fails to decrypt. The
identifier is read fresh each launch, is never stored in a readable form, and
is never sent off the device.
The mobile version of Chess Ta! shows ads supplied by Google AdMob: a banner on the game screen, and optional rewarded ads you can choose to watch to unlock a feature. Every rewarded ad is announced first and can be declined.
To serve ads, Google may collect and process data including your advertising ID, approximate location derived from your IP address, and device information. That processing is Google's, governed by their policies, not ours — we never see it. See How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
The Windows version shows no ads at all. The advertising code is only active on mobile.
Ads are limited to a PG content rating, because this is a general-audience board game.
Chess Ta! offers one optional, one-time purchase that removes ads and unlocks unlimited feature credits. The transaction is handled entirely by Google Play or the Microsoft Store. Your payment details go to them and never reach the app or the developer — we only receive confirmation that a purchase exists, so the app knows to switch ads off.
Chess Ta! is a general-audience game and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us and we will look into it — though, as described above, the app has no mechanism to send us personal information in the first place.
Because everything is stored locally, uninstalling the app — or clearing its storage from your device settings — permanently removes all of it. There is no server-side copy for us to delete, and no account to close.
If the app's data practices change, this page will be updated and the "last updated" date at the top will change with it. Material changes will also be noted in the app's store listing release notes.
